Game mechanics

Understand the differences between a payline, a cluster, a multiplier and a bonus feature before comparing games.

RTP: percentage, version and actual results

Compare the exact version’s information panel with the provider figure. Do not infer its RTP from a short demo session or a streamer’s results.

Volatility is not the same as RTP

Read the provider’s own scale; a five-point rating and a ten-point rating are not directly comparable. Keep the maximum payout separate from volatility.

Paylines: a pattern, not a row of identical symbols

Check the active-line diagram and the unit used in the paytable. Compare a line game with a cluster game before assuming the same symbol arrangement pays.

Cluster wins: which symbols must touch?

Check the connection rule, minimum count and removal rule separately. The catalogue links show games whose providers describe a cluster mechanism.

Pay anywhere is different from cluster pays

Count the qualifying symbols in the exact version. Do not add together different symbol types to reach a threshold unless its rules explicitly allow that.

Tumbles and cascades: one stake, several evaluations

Follow a complete round in the history. Separate the initial stake from later cascading evaluations before calculating a round’s total return.

Sticky wilds: where does persistence end?

Identify the clearing event and any excluded symbols. Compare the precise bonus mode, rather than assuming that every mode preserves the same wilds.

Multipliers: add, multiply or accumulate?

Read whether values combine before or after a win, and whether they carry into the next spin. Do not transfer arithmetic rules from another title.

Hold and spin: the counter and locked symbols

Check exactly what refreshes the counter and what ends the feature. Compare Joker’s Jewels with Infernal Trinity instead of assuming identical reset rules.

Feature buy: the displayed price is a separate cost

Read the confirmation screen, applicable RTP and total cost before any action. Buying a feature does not remove the risk of losing the amount paid.

What a demo can and cannot show

Compare the demo version with the version actually offered. Do not use a demo result as evidence that an account bonus or payment method will work.

How to read a slot paytable

Keep the rules panel accessible on mobile. Record the game name and version when asking about a result; a screenshot of one symbol is usually incomplete.
